WHAT'S THE POINT?

Easter is the most important day in all of human history and here's why:

Since the moment Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the beginning, we have been destined for eternal separation from God forever. There is nothing that we could ever do to remedy our relationship with God, make us "good people" in His eyes, or earn any favor with Him.

As broken people before a perfect God, we deserve death for our sins, we deserve the just payment for our actions, being punishment by God for all of eternity.

BUT GOD who is rich in love & mercy, didn't want that to be the case, He loves you so much that He sent Jesus (who is God) to be born into this world as a human (while still being God), He lived the perfect life of obedience to God that we couldn't ever live, and more than that,

JESUS DIED

on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins , through His death on the cross the wrath of God was poured out on Jesus so that, for anyone who puts their faith in Jesus, the wrath of God will never be poured out on them.

Jesus didn't stay dead.

He rose from the dead 3 days later, as God's way of saying, His payment was valid, and He did live the perfect life. Now anyone who believes in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins will be made right with God and we can look forward to a future with Him forever!

We are still imperfect people, but we have a Perfect Savior, Jesus, who did what we could never do, so while we won't be perfect here on earth, we are trusting that Jesus is making us more like Himself until we see Him face to face.

EASTER RESOURCES

Free 8-Day Devotional

As we begin Holy Week, where we remember the sacrifice, suffering, and resurrection of our Savior, it’s good to give ourselves to humble and thankful mourning. Yes, we should be rejoicing people because we have in the redemption that is ours in Christ Jesus eternal reason to rejoice. But this side of our final home, our rejoicing should be mixed with mourning as we witness, experience, and, sadly, give way to the presence and power of evil.

During these next eight days, may your mourning increase so that your joy may deepen. May you groan more so that you would pray more. May your sadness ignite your celebration. And may all of this result in blessings that are too big and too obvious to miss.

50 Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die

The most important questions anyone can ask are: Why was Jesus Christ crucified? Why did he suffer so much? What has this to do with me? Finally, who sent him to his death? The answer to the last question is that God did. Jesus was God’s Son. The suffering was unsurpassed, but the whole message of the Bible leads to this answer.

Explore 50 answers to the question: What did God achieve for sinners like us in sending his Son to die?

Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross

In a culture where crosses have become little more than decorative accessories and jewelry, how easy it is for even the most well-intended Christian to rush from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday without thoughtfully contemplating the cross and all that it means. Yet we miss out on spiritual riches when we do.

Each essay in this collection holds to a high view of Scripture and expounds on a particular aspect of the Easter story using the appropriate Scripture passage from the ESV Bible. These readings are sure to prepare people's hearts for a fresh experience of the cross each and every Easter season.

Journey to the Cross

Lent is a time in the yearly Christian calendar when we mourn our sin and let go of worldly things that keep our hearts from experiencing God more fully. But how do we reevaluate and recalibrate the values of our hearts to match those of our suffering Savior?

In this forty-day Lenten devotional,  Paul David Tripp invites us to set aside time from the busyness of our lives to focus on the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus. Each of the short readings encourages us to abide in the abundant joy found in Christ as we encounter the Savior more fully and follow him more faithfully during this Lenten season.

Is Easter Unbelievable?

Did Jesus rise from the dead? This book explores the miracle at the heart of the Christian faith.

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is an extraordinary thing to believe. Such a supernatural event is the stuff of make-believe, many think. Yet millions of Christians around the world believe that Jesus' resurrection was a real, historical event. Indeed, "if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith" and Christians are "of all people most to be pitied." (1 Corinthians 15)

In this concise book, respected apologist Rebecca McLaughlin outlines the evidence that Jesus really did rise from the dead and why it's the best news ever.
